Sensor-PP, a project of a consortium consisting of Belgian, German, and Hungarian partners, is a comprehensive initiative shaping the future of pig and poultry farming through the integration of precision livestock farming principles and cutting-edge technologies. While poultry and pork production are significant economic sectors in the EU, intensive farming practices present challenges: rising antibiotic resistance, animal welfare concerns, and environmental impact. The project addresses these challenges by developing an intelligent monitoring system that collects and analyzes real-time data on farm environments and animal behavior. This provides farmers with the necessary information and tools for data-driven decision-making, contributing to more efficient, sustainable, and animal-friendly production. The system enhances existing technologies by integrating new sensors and creating a high-performance database that combines sensor data, camera images and videos, digitized farm records, and weather information. Employing machine learning and deep learning, the system automatically analyzes this data to identify behavioral anomalies in animals, potential diseases, and environmental issues, enabling prompt intervention and preventative measures. Real-time data visualization, clear alerts, and detailed reports assist farmers in maintaining optimal climate conditions, preventing disease, and improving animal welfare. The system's adaptable design accommodates various farm types and production methods, and benefits from continuous improvement through the integration of new technologies and user feedback.
